Crafting Labs for a Better Tomorrow

“Sustainable manufacturing is no longer optional… it’s a responsibility we must embrace for the health of our ecosystems and future generations.” - Jane Goodall

Because our mission is in service to science, we are committed to making a climate-positive impact through sustainable lab solutions. At Lab Crafters, our dedication to sustainability extends beyond delivering high-performance, adaptable, and eco-friendly lab solutions—it’s about shaping the future of green laboratory design.

Sustainable Innovations

Lab Crafters has been a leader in sustainable laboratory solutions—introducing innovations like the Air Sentry® High-Performance Fume Hood (1997) and contributing to award-winning, LEED Platinum-certified facilities.

Lab Crafters’ Air Sentry high-performance fume hoods are industry leaders—using up to 50% less energy than conventional models while maintaining superior safety and performance. Engineered to encourage optimal user behavior, our ventilation solutions not only significantly reduce energy consumption and life cycle costs but also empower our clients to meet bold sustainability and performance goals for the most resource-intensive labs. Our lab solutions also feature functional enhancements for well-being including effortless, push-button height adjustability; integrated LED lighting; dynamically supportive lab seating; ergonomic monitor arms and keyboard trays

Sustainable Manufacturing

Lab Crafters is deeply committed to sustainable practices across our manufactured products. Our approach is designed to maximize value while minimizing waste through the use of advanced manufacturing technologies.

By sourcing from those who prioritize sustainable materials, ethical production, and reduced environmental impact, we strengthen the integrity of our supply chain. Our steel products are of a high recycled content. Our powder coating process is VOC-free and uses a state-of-the-art recovery system to capture and reuse overspray, generating no hazardous waste. Our powder coatings meet all five SEFA cabinet surface finish tests and are ultra-low VOC during curing and free of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) post-cure. Lab Crafters promotes a circular economy by continually reducing scrap, minimizing waste, recycling materials, and ensuring that 95% of packaging is recyclable or reusable.

Sustainable Products

Each of Lab Crafters’ lab solutions contribute to a high-performing workplaces. Our flagship product, I-FLEX, is intentionally sustainable.  I-FLEX is designed to support the user through enhanced ergonomics and versatility in the workplace.  I-FLEX is engineered for continuous adaptability; every component is designed to evolve with changing workplace needs—discouraging the cycle of demolition and rebuild.  By reducing renovation impacts, optimizing flexibility, and supporting occupant well-being, I-FLEX sets a new benchmark for what sustainable lab solutions should deliver.

Sustainable Practices

We are committed to making a climate-positive impact through sustainable lab solutions. Our commitment is grounded in a solid foundation of guidelines, standards, and certifications that underscore our sustainable practices, manufacturing, and products.

Lab Crafters is a long-standing member of SEFA and the U.S. Green Building Council, and participant of Labs 21. Our sustainable practices also include rigorous testing to SEFA performance standards and reflect the principles first established by Labs 21. As a company, we are proud to foster a culture where safety supports well-being and operational resilience. We prioritize regular training in hazard recognition, ergonomics, and equipment use—core components of a safe workplace. We drive sustainability through a LEAN Roadmap across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management—eliminating delays, optimizing processes, and enhancing communication for efficiency.

Sustainable Operations

Lab Crafters prioritizes a sustainable workplace, safe and responsible manufacturing, employee well-being, and community impact. We are driving sustainable change through responsible sourcing, recycling, optimization, safety, training and community.

At Lab Crafters, we are committed to incorporating environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and effective corporate governance into every aspect of our operations. Our employees play a vital role in actively embracing these values and driving our shared sustainability goals forward. Moving forward, we remain committed to leading with purpose, prioritizing environmental responsibility, and continually expanding our sustainability initiatives to create lasting, positive impact.

Our Sustainable Commitment

Climate Action & Science-Based Targets

At
Lab Crafters
, we are committed to lowering our carbon footprint and aligning our corporate strategy with international climate science. To establish a rigorous foundation for our sustainability journey, we have set near-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets, which have been formally reviewed and validated by the
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Our SBTi-Validated Near-Term Target

Lab Crafters commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2025 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.

Our Emissions Baseline (2025 Base Year)

Our greenhouse gas inventory has been established in accordance with the
GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.
The data below represents our official environmental baseline, against which all future annual reduction progress will be reported:
Emissions Scope Reporting Framework 2025 Baseline
Emissions (tCO₂e)
Scope 1

Direct emissions from on-site fuel combustion and fleet vehicles
GHG Protocol (Absolute)
371
Scope 2 (Location-Based)*

Indirect emissions from grid electricity consumption
GHG Protocol (Absolute)
528
Total Operational Footprint

Combined Scope 1 & 2
Total Operational Footprint

Combined Scope 1 & 2
899

Methodology and Boundary Notes

  • Organizational Boundary:
We utilize the Operational Control approach. This baseline accounts for 100% of the emissions generated across our corporate offices and operational facilities.
  • Metrics:
All emissions figures are quantified in metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) using the latest global warming potentials sourced from the IPCC.
  • *Note on Scope 2: Where market-based electricity tracking mechanisms are unavailable, location-based grid emission factors have been applied to represent our baseline.
