| In 1978 Metal Crafters Manufacturing,
Co, a sheet metal fabrication business, was founded
in the garage of the current CEO’s Long
Island home. Out of this business grew Aero-Data
Metal Crafters, Inc. Metal Crafters was incorporated
in 1980, its primary business being precision
sheet metal fabrication for the defense and computer
industry. Metal Crafters established a reputation
for producing high quality products with its state-of-the-art
computerized equipment. Metal Crafters grew into
a very successful sheet metal shop in the early
1980’s, when the defense industry on Long
Island was thriving. It became apparent in the
mid to late 1980’s, however, that the defense
industry was declining and that the medical field
was where their future customer base was to be
found.
Metal Crafters expanded its product offering
to include a line of precision manufactured steel
furniture and fume hoods. A line of laboratory
furniture was designed like no other before it.
By incorporating the same precision manufacturing
techniques that went into the production of the
parts for the U.S. Air Force’s fighter jets
and NASA’s Space Shuttle, this new laboratory
furniture line was the highest quality line ever
manufactured for mass production.
In 1990 Lab Crafters, Inc. was founded to support
the new product line. As the laboratory product
line matured, it was becoming apparent that there
was significant overlap between the laboratory
and clean room industries. In response to this,
a complete line of clean room contamination control
equipment and environments were developed.
This product line resulted in the creation of
Air Crafters,
Inc.
Under the direction of the company principals,
the companies of the Metal Crafters Group have
grown into significant players in the laboratory
furniture, fume hood and clean room industries.
The companies are widely recognized as having
the most technologically advanced manufacturing
facility in the industry, for its innovative designs,
and its high quality products.
